Upcoming Delinquent Tax Sale
If you still owe 2022 property taxes, outstanding mobile homes and real property, which are land and dwellings, will be auctioned at the Delinquent Tax Sale.
Date: Monday, October 2, 2023
Time: Registered bidders must check in between 8:00am and 9:30am. Bidding will begin promptly at 10:00am.
Location: Buckwalter Recreation Center located at 905 Buckwalter Pkwy in Bluffton, SC.
Taxpayers should note that the payment deadline to avoid the tax sale is 5:00pm on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Individuals wishing to bid on properties being auctioned at the Beaufort County Tax sale must register in advance of the auction and may do so online by 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023. Bidders are encouraged to do their research and have a full understanding of what they are purchasing. A current list of delinquent properties is available online and a final list will be posted Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The sale will be broadcast live on the County Channel as well as YouTube.

Over the past six months, multiple notifications have been sent to delinquent property owners via mail, including a delinquent certified notice and posting a physical sign on the property, and properties were advertised in the newspaper and online.
Taxpayers wanting to prevent their property from being auctioned may pay any time before 5:00pm on September 29, 2023 using any one of our convenient payment methods but the greatest experience is using myBeaufortCounty.com, where you can keep track of all your bills and receipts in one convenient location. Only guaranteed funds will be accepted to include cash, money order, cashier’s check, certified check or credit card. Payments will not be accepted the day of the auction.
The Treasurer’s Office will be open from 8:30am to 5:00pm on Friday, September 29, 2023, in both the Beaufort and Bluffton offices to assist customers wishing to pay their property taxes in-person ahead of the deadline.

The property will be auctioned at the Delinquent Tax Sale on October 2, 2023.
Delinquent property owners will have until October 3, 2024 to redeem their property in order to maintain ownership of their property.
For all other delinquent taxes, additional delinquency proceedings may be pursued.
